Maple & Clover is a Toronto-based wedding photography and wedding videography studio established in 2018. With Irish roots, a deep appreciation for Canada, and a serious fondness for maple syrup, Maple & Clover was born.

Black and white self-portrait of David Stokes

My name is David, and I’m the lead creative director, wedding photographer, and wedding videographer at Maple & Clover. I migrated to Canada from Ireland in 2018, bringing with me over a decade of experience in professional film and wedding production. I studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, and since 2001, I’ve worked across Ireland, Europe, and the United States as an Assistant Director on film and television productions. This experience taught me how to anticipate moments, craft cinematic storytelling, and bring a professional, calm approach to fast-paced environments — skills I now apply directly to weddings.

Since moving to Toronto, I’ve been a proud member of IATSE Local 873, working as a Grip Technician on high-profile film and television productions, including Amazon and Netflix shows. This professional experience continues to refine my technical skills, attention to detail, and understanding of production workflows, all of which I bring to each wedding I document.

Having personally shot, edited, and delivered more than 400 weddings across Ireland, I now focus on bringing my unique style, technical expertise, and storytelling mindset to couples throughout Ontario. My background in film means every wedding I capture benefits from a cinematic eye for light, movement, composition, and pacing, ensuring your photos and films feel natural, emotive, and timeless.

When I’m not capturing weddings, you’ll often find me shooting street photography on my Hasselblad 500CM. Living here in the city and experiencing the vast countryside of Ontario, I get to experience and appreciate a wide range of light, textures, and landscapes — perspectives that continually inspire my work and inform the way I tell stories through photography and film.

If my work resonates with you and you’re interested in wedding photography, videography, or a combined photo and video experience, I’d love to hear more about your plans. You’re welcome to reach out with details about your wedding day, and we can arrange either a relaxed coffee meeting or a video call to chat things through.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Maple & Clover. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

As a final note, word of mouth is the heartbeat of a small, independent studio like mine, it’s how couples who value real moments and thoughtful storytelling find me. As a thank you, couples who book both photography and videography receive 10% off, and if you refer a friend, you’ll both enjoy 5% off if they book, even if you’re only booking one service.
